The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) 2011-2012


The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) are fellowshipprogrammes initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry ofForeign Affairs under the budget for Development Cooperation.


The overall aim of the NFP is to help alleviate qualitative andquantitative shortages of skilled manpower within a wide range ofgovernmental, private and non-governmental organizations. Thisby offering fellowships to mid- career professionals to improve thecapacity of their employing organizations. The need for training hasto be evident within the context of an organization. This implicatesthat applicants have to be nominated by their employers.

Applications without employer support are considered not eligible.Target groupThe NFP is targeted at mid-career professionals who are nationalsof and working and living in one of the 60 NFP countries (see annex4 for an overview). Candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa, womenand members of priority groups and/or marginalized regions arespecifically invited to apply for an NFP fellowship. This because50% of the available fellowships will be awarded to females and50% of the available budget will be awarded to candidates fromSub-Saharan Africa. Beside this, candidates from priority groupsand/or marginalized regions (to be defined by the embassies) areexplicitly invited to apply.
